Container StandardsUse leak-proof, secure containers; sharps in rigid, puncture-resistant sharps containers; maintain storage areas to prevent odors, leakage, and unauthorized access.
Authorized HaulersUse compliant infectious waste transporters and licensed/authorized receiving facilities; verify vendor compliance and pickup frequency to meet storage limits.
Employee TrainingTrain staff handling infectious waste on segregation, PPE/universal precautions, spill response, sharps safety, and storage time/temperature requirements; document training.
